Information can't be provided to a channel which use unverified information in their programs- Govt

A top official of the government has stated that information cannot be provided to a channel which use unverified false information regarding the recent official trip of the President to Qatar.

Speaking to Miadhu Daily, the official said that the President's Office daily brief on the activities of the President including his recent visit to Qatar but however despite this RaajjeTV claimed a number of times that the President visited Dubai.

"The website of the President's Office gives detailed information about the activities of the President. The information is not restricted only for some but are open for all who access the website," he said.

The official said that RaajjeTV is a very irresponsible TV channel which gives no regard to verifying information before it is disseminated to the public.

"Perhaps they thing that Qatar is a state of United Arab Emirates. However that will be very unfortunate. Or perhaps they were ashamed to provide information of the visit given the importance of the visit. Whatever the reason RaajjeTV is proven by this to be very irresponsible when relaying information," he said.

Meanwhile, President's Media Secretary Masood Imad told Miadhu Daily that the government has no restriction in providing information to the media and no media is excluded from this.
