Political Party Bill and Privileges Bill are two siblings-
Sheikh Mohamed Didi
Minister of State for Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Mohamed Didi has said that the Political Party Bill and the Privileges Bill of the Peoples' Majlis which were recently passed by the Majlis and ratified by the President are two siblings.
Speaking at the meeting of the National Movement, Sheikh Mohamed Didi said that the objectives of these two bills are connected to each other and the aim of both the bills are the same.
Sheikh Mohamed Didi alleged that the aim of both the bills is to open doorways for foreign dark forces to invade Maldives and erase the religion of Islam from the country. "They have planned out a way out by passing the privileges bill if they are caught to have taken money from the foreign dark forces. Now these forces can spend on them through political parties whether discreetly or openly. Those forces now can buy the government. It is through these means that they can remove the article in the constitution which states that Islam is the official religion of Maldives," he said.
In addition to this Sheikh Mohamed Didi said that the EU issued a statement under this agenda claiming that the fairness of the election will be doubted if a certain candidate is now allowed to participate.
"They want to propagate the religious agenda in the Maldives," he said.
Moreover, Sheikh Mohamed Didi said that the protests held against the judiciary are held to bury the violations of the constitution during the former regime under the rug.
