Maldives image has been tarnished by the many debts- Abbas

State Minister of Finance and Treasury, Abbas Adil Riza has said that the image of Maldives has been tarnished by the many debts of the state.

Abbas Adil Riza made this remark speaking at the ceremony held to launch the “Orchid Activity Centre” of the Qaumee Ittihaad Party. During the ceremony Abbas signed his membership for the party.

Abbas said that these debts cannot be paid and resolved except by a joint effort by all stake holders. He said that the country is drowning in the debts and all should work hard to alleviate Maldives from this crisis.

Abbas noted that the image of the Maldives is so tarnished by the debt status of the country now world countries look at Maldives with disdain.

In addition to this Abbas said that he joined Qaumee Ittihaad Party because he believes that much good can be done for the country through the party. “I have worked with different political leaders in the past. I have experienced what they are upon. I have seen how much they adorn their words with actions,” he said.
