Betrayer Gayoom says : I never betray the positions I am granted-

President of the Progressive Party of Maldives, PPM , Maumoon Abdul Gayoom who has betrayed Maldives and its citizens for 30 years as a president has said that he has never betrayed any of the positions he was granted so far.

He might not have betrayed his post, post of President, but most people believe he has betrayed Maldives and it’s citizens during his 30 years of rule in Maldives. From Auditor Generals reports it is proved he has cheated millions of Rufiya, but he says he never took a coin, which means he never touched a coin but Millions of Rufiyaa.

Gayoom made this remark speaking at the first meeting of PPM held after its first congress. He said that it is an honour and a pleasure that he was elected as the President of PPM. He said that he has never betrayed any of the positions he was granted so far and he will continue to be honest and will never betray the trust of the people.

“I have never betrayed the trust of the people. I will never betrayed the honour I am granted. And with all my might I will continue serving PPM as long as I can,” he said.

Gayoom rebutted claims made on some of the media that he was elected to the position of the President of the PPM by default. He said that as no one has contested with him for the position he was elected as the President. He said that it is how a democratic system works. He said that the matter is unclear to some people.

Furthermore, Gayoom noted that the motto of the PPM is the nation first and he will continue to preside the party abiding by this motto.

In addition to this Gayoom praised the efforts of the Umar Naseer, former interim President of PPM and one of the presidential candidate contestants of the party.
