No any other religion propagates
human rights to an extent that it is endorsed in Islam: Sheikh Abdul Kareem
Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Kareem has
said that there is no any other religion that propagates human rights to an
extent that it is endorsed in the Islamic religion. Sheikh stated it while
lecturing at the 115th event of the series "Enhancing faith and patriotism" held
last night at Kalhuthukkalaa Koshi.
In the lecture mainly based on the topic "Human rights in Islam", Sheikh
emphasized that enemies of Islam spread various things to victimize Islam, such
as that Islam is not compatible to the 20th century, Islam does not facilitate
modern development and that it is a restrictive religion. Countering these views
he said that no other philosophy or theory other than Islam has commended human
rights to such a degree.
Speaking further, Sheikh noted
that even the Holy Quran mentions numerous verses which propagates human rights
and mentioned a number of examples. He said that many people use to believe that
human rights is something that developed in 1948 with the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights, and it is formed due to French Revolution and American
Revolution, but he said that human rights have been there throughout the history
of mankind.
Sheikh also stressed that even though people use to propagate human rights in
time immemorial, it is officially and initially proclaimed publicly by our
Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) on 09th Zulhijja 10 AH while lecturing at "Hajjathul
Wadha'u" (The Farewell Pilgrimage). He marked that it was 1300 years before the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights, French Revolution and American
Revolution. Moreover, Sheikh said that Universal Declaration of Human Rights of
1948 reminds us about the Prophet's lecture at the Farewell Pilgrimage and all
those points in the declaration had already mentioned in that lecture.
Speaking further, he highlighted on various elements of human rights that are propagated in Islam by giving examples from the Holy Quran and Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) traditions. Speaking on this area, Sheikh emphasized more on freedom and equality in Islam.
"There is no reasonable evidence to claim that Islam is against human rights", said Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Kareem in concluding his lecture.
