President Waheed will contest in the upcoming presidential election: GIP
Gaumee Ittihaad Party (GIP) has announced that President Dr. Mohamed Waheed will contest in the upcoming presidential election.
Council member of the party, Ahmed Thaufeeg said that many of the people have told President Dr.Waheed that they want him to be the President of the Maldives for the next five years. He said that President has accepted this request of the people and will run for presidency in the election to be held this year.
Thaufeeg, who is also the political advisor of the President, said that Gaumee Ittihaad Party is currently holding many campaign activities in preparation for the election.
Thaufeeg said that the President has proved his capability as the President in the past ten months. He said that President Dr. Waheed is the best candidate who is running for presidency in the upcoming election and he has proved his worth to the people.
Moreover, Thaufeeg said that President Dr. Waheed can win the election with the aid of other parties as it is not possible for one party alone to win the election without the support of many parties.
