Majlis is committing financial crimes in the guise of reviewing CoNI report:
Thaufeeg
Political Advisor of the President and the Press Secretary of the President’s Office, Ahmed Thaufeeg has said that the members of the Peoples’ Majlis are committing financial crimes in the guise of reviewing the report of the Commission of National Inquiry (CoNI).
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Thaufeeg said that he appeals independent state institutions to stop this immediately. He said that the members of the Majlis are misusing state funds and usurping them for their own gains in guise of an investigation. He noted that they are wasting public finances in a time when the budget is so tight that the government is facing difficulties in serving the people.
Thaufeeg said that the government evaluation committee should reconsider wasting the finances of the people. He said that public finances should be used for the benefit of the people.
“Majlis members are from political parties. Some political parties control these committees. Whatever their excuses is, they are spending public finances,” he said.
Thaufeeg said that these members are trying to achieve their own political agendas and the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is behind this plot. He said that this is a crime against the state.
