Majlis
members are the foremost in selfishness- Abdullah Mohamed
Vice President of the Civic Society Coalition, Abdullah Mohamed has said that the members of the Peoples’ Majlis are foremost in selfishness.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Abdullah Mohamed said that the members of the Majlis are so ego-centric and selfish that they made the framework to their own salaries which give them all allowances and salaries for five years even if they are absent for the Majlis sittings for the whole term.
“A pay commission has been established. But they are also unauthorized to look into the salaries of the Majlis members. What makes them members unaccountable? Are they angels?,” he said.
Abdullah Mohamed said that the members of the Majlis get the fattest paychecks and allowances.
“When we consider the budget cut, the budget allocated for all offices have been cut. For the whole Home Ministry the budget allocated for overtime for an year is only 17000 ruffiya. So we have to stop service at 2:30. However, in the Majlis the budget was increased,” he said.
Abdullah Mohamed said that the decision of the members to go abroad to investigate the case of the 800million dollar worth corruption is a ploy to go abroad to spend their vacation using public money. He questioned the capabilities of the members to investigate such a complex case.
