CoNI report is on an investigation already concluded- Media Secretary

Media Secretary Masood Imad has said that there is no reason to investigate the CoNI (Committee of National Inquiry)’s report on the change of government on February 7, 2012 when it is a report of an investigation that has already been concluded.

Masood Imad made this remark speaking to Miadhu Daily in relation to the President’s Office’s rejection of the request of the Peoples’Majlis for the reports of the statements of some people to CoNI. He said that the investigation carried out by CoNI was done transparently and the conclusion of the report was publicized. He said that the confidentiality of the people who gave their statements regarding the matter will be protected.

Masood said that the investigation of the CoNI was carried out under the full cooperation of Commonwealth and the United Nation. He said that the report was accepted by these interntional organisations and also the recommendations were accepted too.

“In no country does a Parliament committee or any other body investigate a matter already investigated and concluded by a trusted body. All the processes of the investigation are very transparent. So if the Majlis wants to make a committee they can reinvestigate it. The government will not intervene.,” he said.
