Political Party bill is a dress sewn for a certain people- Amir
Kudahuvadhoo constituency MP Ahmed Amir has said that the political party bill is a dress sewn for a certain people.
Amir made this remark speaking at the Peoples’ Majlis regarding the nominees appointed for the vacant post in the Maldives Broadcast Commission.
“I reiterate that we are not worried about getting 11 thousand members for our party. If any party is to gain a membership of 11 thousand then we will show to all that the capability of our party and we will gain that much members by the will of Allah,” he said.
MP Amir said that MDA will hopefully gain a membership of 11 thousand people easily. He said that the party is becoming more and more popular and gaining support.
“However our objective is to work to protect the freedom of speech for all people. We will never stop this. Rather we will continue with our efforts till our death. So know that we will never accept the joint efforts of the major political parties in this Majlis to destroy democracy in the Maldives,” he said.
MP Amir said that the people do not believe that the Majlis is on the right track. “The question is whether the Majlis is doing enough for the betterment of the country? Well, the people certainly do not believe it,” he said.
