Despite tightening of budget the ministry will be handed over to the newly
elected govt- Shaheem
Minister of Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has said that despite the tightening of the budget allocated for the Ministry of Islamic Affairs by the Peoples’ Majlis, the ministry will be handed over to the new government elected in the upcoming presidential election.
Sheikh Shaheem made this remark speaking at the press conference held at the Ministry yesterday. The Minister said that Maldives is a hundred percent Muslim country and it raises alarms that the budget of the Islamic ministry has been narrowed down so much that it will be difficult to run the ministry.
Minister Shaheem said that the ministry is in need of the generous aid of the businessmen to continue the works and efforts of the Ministry to foster Islamic awareness in the country.
“In Ramadan and other than that many people, including businessmen and different organisations have assisted in so many ways. I am confident that they will continue to assist the Ministry,” he said.
In addition to this Sheikh Shaheem said that the ministry has moved onto a new phase of the mosque fund. “We are working onto lay the foundation of the mosque fund building as soon as possible. I have gathered the finance to build the structure of the building now. With the assistance of some generous people we will be able to accomplish this without taking anything from the state budget,” he said.
