Numerous welfare improvements for MNDF to be conducted in 2013: Defence Minister


Minister of Defence and National Security Colonel (Ret) Mohamed Nazim has said that throughout this year numerous development programs and welfare improvements for MNDF are planned to be conducted. Minister stated this while speaking at the ceremony held to introduce Coast Guard's new uniform as part of its 33rd anniversary celebrations. 

Speaking at the ceremony, He further said that with the acquisition with all necessary materials completed currently, work on expanding accommodation facilities for MNDF soldiers would be completed within another three months. He stressed that special attention will be given to obtain necessary equipment for soldiers and improve the services of 'Senahiya' Military Hospital. He also highlighted that MNDF would make an effort to provide cheap accommodation via SIFCO for soldiers and their families who go abroad for medical treatment. 

He emphasized that while we welcome a new year we have to set forth certain targets and goals to achieve. ''The most important thing is to remain as respectable servicemen with public admiration. Moreover, they must seek to remain physically fit, soldier-like, professional and as a good example, and also it is very important to serve citizens closely in the front line'' said the Minister. 

Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam, Vice Chief of Defence Force Brigadier General Ahmed Mohamed, General Officers, Principal Director of Coast Guard, Officers and enlisted soldiers of Coast Guard took part in this ceremony.
