Nasheed’s new year address is an own goal- Abdullah Mohamed
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Abdullah Mohamed has said that the address of the former President Nasheed on the occasion of the new year is an own goal scored by Nasheed.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Abdullah said that Nasheed knows best that the international community was incapable of stopping him from violating the constitution and law during his three year rule.
“The people witnessed and experienced it. But no one knows is better than Nasheed himself,” Abdullah said.
Abdullah said that the international community was clapping in the back seat when Nasheed padlocked the judiciary, kidnapped a senior judge and arrested political leaders. He said that the international community that Nasheed so much wants to impress was blind to see the many protests and demonstrations staged against Nasheed by the people.
Abdullah said that despite the international community being blind to the reality, the people of the Maldives are a people who will uphold the constitution and law. He said that they have proved this to the world.
Abdullah said that he is not concerned with the a community who were blind and deaf when Nasheed said his infamous statement: “When a member of my party pesters me for something, I will grant that member’s request. But, if a member of another party pesters me, my evilness will be clearly seen. I can also do many things with my left hand and right hand. Never think, and none of you can even imagine, the things I would do or would not do.”
Abdullah said that the criminal activities in the year 2012 increased because criminals were appointed for top posts. “President Nasheed appointed criminals to many political posts. This can be known from the records of the courts of law. And they perpetrated crimes and continued their felonies taking advantage of their posts. However none of these have been recorded. The recording of these data initiated with the change of the government and with the start of arresting criminals,” he said.
