All parties should put national interests first- President

President Dr. Mohamed Waheed has said that all parties should put national interests first. He made this statement at a press conference held on his return from OIC meeting.

"Larger parties have larger share in my Govt...All parties should put national interests first,” he said.

It is believed that this was in response to PPM Parliamentary Group leader Abdullah Yameen's attack last week, accusing Dr. Waheed's government of failing and of being sold out to foreign states.

The President called upon coalition partners for national unity, and said that "now is not the time to make accusations and create division."

Speaking at a press conference on his return from the OIC meeting, Dr. Waheed defended his foreign policy, saying the national sovereignty had been protected and the prior influence of foreign and international partners minimized, as the whole country could see.
