No room to say that Judiciary is autonomous- CJ
Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz Hussain has said that he does not believe that there is room to say that the Judiciary is autonomous and independent.
The Chief Justice made this remark speaking at the ceremony held to celebrate the first anniversary of the Drug Court. He said that the Judiciary cannot function perfectly without being autonomous and independent.
Chief Justice Faiz said that although the courts are a separate power of state the finances to run it is still is not independent. And in that regard the staff are facing many difficulties and there is no way to increase the number of staff and organise more training programs for them, he said.
Faiz said that there is nothing left of the budget for the overtime and the sessions held in the criminal court at night to decide on the detainment of criminal suspects cannot be held from now on.
In addition to this the Chief Justice said that discussions are being held to resolve these issues but up until now no solutions have been found.
