Maldives get a 30 million dollar aid on renewable energy –

President Dr.Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has said that Maldives has got an aid of 30 million US dollar to start a power production project by using renewable energy. Speaking to VTV on Friday night, Dr. Waheed said he had been working on getting aid to revive Maldivian economy during his visit to New York.
Dr.Waheed said due to the renewable energy project, the people of the country will get a big relief when they have to pay their electric bills. He said within a year the electric bills will be reduced very much.
The President said, within 12 months to 18 months , 20 islands in the country will get power at cheaper rates. During his speech at the UN General Assembly, President stressed for assistance in renewable energy project in the Maldives. He also spoke about the difficulties in the government’s budget with many countries and they have expressed that they will help Maldives in different ways.
