Police busted 25 massage parlors this year
Maldives Police Service has busted 25 massage parlors in suspicion to prostitution during different operations carried out this year under the operational priorities to minimize organized crime. Deputy Head of Serious and Organized Crime Department, Inspector of Police Mohamed Dhaoodh revealed that no spas or massage parlors from any tourist resorts were busted during these operations.
Dhauoodh disclosed these parlors include three busted on March, three busted on April, five busted on May, six busted on June, five busted on July, one busted on August and four busted on this September.
During several operations, Maldives Police Service took 98 people under custody in suspicion to prostitution. Among them, 58 foreigners were already deported to their respective countries. These deportees include men and women as well and a Bangladeshi man was arrested after returning with a different identity, when he was deported earlier.
Presently, there are four Thailand women, two Bangladeshi women, three Bangladeshi men and two Maldivian men under police custody in relation to these busts.
During the operations carried out this year, Police seized MVR 138,783/- and USD 3,155/- at the massage parlors busted for prostitution.
