FAIM members meet Indian Home Minister
Members of the Friendship Association of India-Maldives (FAIM) has met India’s Union Minister of Home Affairs and requested to resolve the visa matters.
The Indian Home Minister, Mr. Sushilkumar Shinde visited Maldives for the SAARC Home Minister’s meeting held in Maldives. During his visit, the President, Vice President, Joint Secretary, Treasurer and Executive Committee members of FAIM paid a courtesy call on the Minister Sushulkumar Shinde on 26thSeptember, 2012.
The President and Vice President of FAIM briefed the Minister about the FAIM and its ongoing activities. The representation from the Association was presented to the Minister concerning the recent development of the visa regulations of India.
FAIM had expressed their concerns on the new Indian visa regulations affecting the Maldivian community. FAIM expressed its gratitude towards the High Commissioner of India H.E Mr. Dnyaneshwar M. Mulay for his support in resolving the visa matters. However three additional issues that need to be resolved were expressed in the representation to the Minister Sushilkumar Shinde. These are Extension in India of visas issued in Maldives by the High Commission of India, Re-entry permit for traveling to India within a gap of two months and Maximum 90 days limit of tourist visa in a year.
Minister Mr. Sushikumar Shinde promised to resolve the visa matters through bilateral way. The meeting was attended by President Mr. Mohamed Saeed, Vice President Mr.Himmath A. Hussain, Joint Treasurer Mr.Ahmed Amjad, Treasurer Mr.Siby Thomas, Executive Members Mr. Mohamed Haleem and Ms. Fathimath Nazeen
