Thirty year rule proves that Gayoom is not a vengeful leader- PPM

The Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) has stated that the thirty year rule of the former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is a proof that he is not a vengeful leader who seeks revenge.

The interim Vice President of PPM and Fonadhoo constituency MP AbdurRaheem Abdullah said that former President Gayoom is a virtuous leader who does not seek revenge.

Abdur Raheem said that rebutting the recent statement of Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) Leader Ahmed Thasmeen Ali Gayoom’s return to power would see him seeking to settle the scores of the past rather than address the serious issues of the present and the future. He said that this claim is baseless and the thirty year rule of Gayoom is evidence enough that he is not a leader who will seek to settle scores rather than addressing serious issues.

Abdur Raheem noted that Gayoom has forgiven even those who tried to assault him physically during his presidency. He said that some of these people were appointed to top posts of his government shows that he is a forgiving leader.

Abdur Raheem urged DRP to stop slandering Gayoom. He said that Gayoom is the most popular leader ever to have ruled Maldives.
