Will support the government if it is to take airport back – DRP
DRP has said that they will support the government’s decision to take back Ibrahim Nasir International Airport from GMR. Council member and member of Mathiveri constituency Mr. Hussein Mohamed said DRP will not go against the government if the government decides to take back airport from GMR. But DRP always want every work to be done through the right path and by using the legal forms .
Speaking to VTV, Mr. Hussein Mohamed said DRP will support the government in its work of taking back Ibrahim Nasir International Airport INIA and also DRP will support on the best solution for the problem. He said all the decision taken by party’s council is done by considering legal forms and DRP always look in to the ways that will benefit the people of the country.
Speaking with Mr. Hussein Mohamed, the deputy leader of DRP Ibrahim Shareef said they still haven’t seen the GMR agreement and because of this nothing can be said about the profit of the business done by GMR. Mr. Shareef also spoke against the criticism of PPM to DRP on the airport issue. Shareef said people who ruled for 30 years in Maldives will know better about profit gained by the airport. He said INIA is the main gate of Maldives and questions rises about the profit gained from the airport by looking into the situation of runway, radars, vehicles and equipments. And also question rises about the profit gained from the airport because of the name tag given to INIA as bucket airport.
Leader of DRP Mr. Ahmed Thasmeen Ali has said that investors will loose their trust if about 3000 people go and stop the work of airport. And he said DRP will not support a cause like this.
