Nasheed’s tour to UK is to destroy the Maldivian tourism industry – Adeeb
Minister of Tourism Ahmed Adeeb has said that the main aim of the former President Mohamed Nasheed’s tour to the UK is to destroy the reputation of the tourism industry of the Maldives.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Adheeb said that he believes that some of the UK based newpapers’s accusations of terrorism in the Maldives against tourists were based on the fabrications and lies of the former President Nasheed under his plots to destroy the tourism industry. He said that such reports apparently campaign for Nasheed and this exposes the people behind such articles.
Adeeb said that the people of Maldives are a hospitable people who welcome the tourists with a warm welcome. He said that the people of Maldives are a friendly people who respect the foreign visitors who come to the beautiful resorts of Maldives to enjoy their vacations.
“This is not something said by me alone. Rather this is something experienced by the tourists. This is evident from even the oldest of writings written about the people of Maldives in the country’s history,” he said.
Adeeb said that resigning from Presidency in a state of confusion is not a reason to damage the economy of the Maldives. He said that no person who truly loves his nation will ever try to bring harm to the nation and its people.
