Maldives cannot move forward without eliminating corruption- Gasim

Jumhooree Party Leader Gasim Ibrahim has said that the Maldives cannot move forward without eliminating corruption.

Gasim made this statement at the two day workshop held at Sun Island Resort which was organized by the Women’s League of the Jumhooree Party.

Gasim said that Jumhooree Party has the capability to fight corruption. He stressed that corruption is rampant in the country and it is damaging the country’s future.

In addition to this Gasim said that there is a lot of issues to be dealt with and he would not be in politics if he did not have the certainty that he can be a part of reform work. He said that Jumhooree Party is embarked on a mission to reclaim Maldives to the people of Maldives. He said that the formation of the Women’s League of the Jumhooree Party is part of this initiation to reclaim Maldives.

Nothing that the former President Mohamed Nasheed leased and sold many public assets to foreign parties, Gasim said that he would strive hard to reclaim them as a son of Maldives who loves the nation. He said that it is an individual obligation upon every Maldivian. He said that he is certain that this work will reap its fruit and will be successful with the permission of Allah.

Speaking at the workshop the Deputy Leader of the Jumhooree Party, Dr. Hussein Rasheed said that a nation cannot be developed without the role of the women. He said that likewise no political party can move forward without the role of women.

Underscoring the importance of the role of women in development and progress, Dr. Hussein Rasheed said that it is the mothers who cultivate the children and look after the economy of a house.

“So how can a nation be built without the role of women who are burdened with such responsibilies,” he asked.
