The first military hospital of the country ‘Senehiya’ is
opened
The first military hospital of Maldives ‘Senehiya’ was inaugurated yesterday. The hospital was opened by the visiting Defemce Minister of India Mr.A.K Antony. After inaugurating the hospital, Mr.Antony said that Indian medical staffs will always work at the hospital and India will help in upgrading the hospital. Mr. Antony said Indian government helped in making the hospital by giving 2 crore Indian rupees and 2 doctors and 4 paramedical staff will be working in the hospital. And he said in the coming years they will send more doctors and paramedical staffs.
The Indian Defence Minister said that India always
maintains a special relationship with the Maldives and highlighted the
historical friendship among the two nations.
He said he is from Kerala, from the northern tip of India and Maldives is a
special place for him because lot of Maldivians live there and go for medical
purposes and educational purposes there. He said it is much easier for him to
come to Maldives than to go to Delhi and it takes only 50 minutes to reach
Maldives from Trivandrum
Speaking at the ceremony , Maldives Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim said that it had been a dream project of Mr. Anthony and highlighted the work done by the Minister to make his dream a reality.
He also thanked former defence ministers of Maldives in helping the project.
