An Impeder and two assaulters fined


Criminal Court ruled against two people impeding police duty and a person for assaulting a police officer yesterday. They are Ahmed Nadeem of H. Sea speed, Ali Shihan of Ha Thuraakunu Roashaneege and Mohamed Rifau of N. Velidhoo Marvelous.

Ahmed Nadeem of H. Sea speed was fined for attacking an on duty police officer trying to control unrest near Nalahiya Hotel on 5th March 2012. Nadhim pushed that officer on chest and kicked on the back when the officer tried to walk away. The court verdicts Ahmed Nadheem guilty, for assaulting a police officer on duty, under the Article 73 of Police Act, and fined for Mrf 5000 under Article 75 of the same Act as it was his first criminal offense where he was found guilty, which has to be compensated within one month from the day of verdict.

Ali Shihan of Ha Thuraakunu Roashaneege was fined for impeding police duty during the arrest of Ahmed Nadeem of H. Sea Speed who attacked a police officer on duty by pushing him on the chest and kicking on the back when the officer tried to walk away during their task to control the unrest near Nalahiya Hotel on 5th March 2012. The court verdict  Ali Shihan of Ha ThuraakunuRoashaneege guilty, for impeding police duty, under the Article 72 of Police Act, and fined for Mrf 3000 under Article 75 of the same Act as it was his first criminal offense where he was found guilty, which has to be compensated within one month from the day of verdict.

Mohamed Rifau of N. Velidhoo Marvelous was fined for attempting an attack on two police officers who were patrolling, at AsareeGoalhi on 18th March 2012.

The court verdict Mohamed Rifau guilty for attempting to attack an officer on duty based on testimonies of eye witnesses, under the Article 73 of Police Act, and fined for Mrf 3000 under Article 75 of the same Act which has to be compensated within one month from the day of verdict.
