Maldives to Host Travel Oscars in 2013

Maldives Promotion House – Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has confirmed that Maldives will host World Travel Awards (WTA) Indian Ocean event in 2013. Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mohamed Maleeh Jamal said ”Maldives travel industry has won numerous accolades at WTA in the past and it gives us great pride to host event in 2013″, he added ”We are planning on details for the event venue and other details”.

The heavyweights of Asia and Indian Ocean travel and hospitality are expected to attend the grand event which will include a red-carpet ceremony and a gala dinner as well as presentation of the coveted awards in May 2013. This will mark the first ever WTA ceremony to be hosted in Maldives.

WTA was launched in 1993 to acknowledge and recognise excellence in the global travel and tourism industry, and is now regarded as the very highest achievement that a travel product could hope to receive.

In the past Maldives as a destination has won the following awards at WTA. Individual hotels and companies has won numerous other awards at WTA.
