Nasheed should be arrested first if anyone is to be arrested for rebellion-
Civic Society Coalition
Civic Society Coalition has stated that the former President Mohamed Nasheed should be arrested first if anyone is to be arrested for rebellion.
Following the claims of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) that there was a plot or a coup d’etat behind the sudden resignation of then Maldivian President Mohammed ‘Anni’ Nasheed on February 7 and that the protests against the government will continue, Vice President of the Civic Society Coalition Abdullah Mohamed said that the five-member Commission of National Inquiry (CoNI), attested by the international community, found no proof to a coup d’etat. He said that the report of the commission exposes the unconstitutional orders and action of President Nasheed and proves that Nasheed rebelled and challenged the constitution a number of times during his presidency.
Abdullah said that although MDP is now trying to cover up their many illegal activities and acts of terrorism, today is the day MDP confessed to their many crimes.
Civic Society CoalitionVice President further said that the recent statements of MDP Chairperson Moosa Manik requesting to delay the prosecution of many of the party members, who were charged with terrorism and different acts of crime, shows that MDP was responsible for all the terrorist activities perpetrated in the country on 8 February, 2012 following the transfer of power on February 7.
