Sandhaanu Luthfee calls Nasheed to retire from politics if he is sincere

“Sandhaanu” Ibrahim Luthfee has called the former President Mohamed Nasheed to retire from politics if he sincerely wants the best for the country.

Noting that Nasheed resigned from presidency on February 7 claiming that his staying in power will lead to more problems, Luthfee said that Nasheed should likewise retire from politics because his staying in the political field is creating more problems and unrest in the country.

Luthfee said that the investigative report of the Commission of National Inquiry (CoNI), released on 30 August 2012, exposed that Nasheed has failed in politics. He said that the report shows that Nasheed has no opportunity to become the President of Maldives ever again.

Luthfee also said that Nasheed’s place is in jail according to the reports of the CoNI and Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM).

Luthfee also said that although he as a supporter of democracy believes that MDP should exist as a party he believes that the party should be abolished for the sake of the future of the country.

In addition to this Luthfee also noted that it is apparent now that Nasheed will not abandon politics even if his supporters vote in favour of it. He said that Nasheed’s religiosity can be seen from the researches done prior to the resignation and after his resignation.
