Majlis approves 04 senior govt appointments

People’s Majlis has yesterday approved 04 senior government appointments. At yesterday’s Sitting, MPs voted to accept the appointment of Mr. Mohamed Naseer / M. Funfini as the Ambassador of the Maldives to India, with 50 votes in favor, and 2 MPs voting against. 1 MP abstained from the vote.

MPs also voted to accept the appointment of Mr. Mohamed Rasheed / H, Carnation Villa as the Ambassador of China, with 49 votes in favour, and 1 MP voting against.

MPs also voted to accept the appointment of Ambassador of the Maldives to Sri Lanka Mr. Hussain Shihab / M. Kali as Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to the Phillipines, and to Australia, with 49 votes in favour and 3 MPs voting against.

MPs also voted to accept the appointment of Ambassador of the Maldives to America Mr. Ahmed Sareer / M. West Side as Permanent Representative of the Maldives to United Nations with 52 MPs voting in favour, and 02 MPs voting against.

04 MPs spoke on the appointees, which are nominated by the President in accordance with Article 115(l) of the Constitution.
