First Lady visits Dubai Autism Center


The Dubai Autism Center (DAC) welcomed the wife of Dr. Mohammed Waheed, President of the Republic of Maldives, the First Lady Madam Ilham Hussain, who expressed her desire to create bilateral relations with the Dubai Autism Center to contribute in improving the services provided to individuals with autism in the Maldives.

Sara Baker, Head of Community Service Unit at the Dubai Autism Center, warmly welcomed Madam Ilham and showed her keenness for future joint actions with the autism centers in the Maldives. She also highlighted the importance of promoting international collaboration in the field of autism to higher levels for the benefit of the world community.

At the meeting room, the guests were briefed with a short presentation about the services of the Center presented by Hayula Mourad, Business Support & Communication Unit Head. 

During the meeting, Madam Ilham discussed with the DAC management the works being carried out by the Maldivian Autism Association. They also discussed ideas about creating permanent communication channels to share expertise on the services and educational programs provided for children with autism. Soon after, they toured the classrooms and interacted with the students.

Madam Ilham praised the leading role of the Dubai Autism Center, noting that the DAC has become a vital reference to many autism centers in the region by showing an outstanding model in the field of autism. 

At the end of the visit, Ms. Baker thanked Madam Ilham for the visit and expressed her appreciation for allowing the DAC to participate in improving and supporting individuals with autism in the Maldives.
