At yesterday’s Sitting, debate continued for its second day on Ahmed Sameer, MP, for Dhidhoo Constituency’s proposal that the Parliament take action against the government following falsified reports of seeking Parliamentary approval for an MRF 300 million loan from Bank of Maldives (BML). The loan is being investigated in Parliament on account of Articles 142 and 143 of the Standing Orders, under Article 99 of the Constitution.

Closing debate on the Amendments to the “National Public Accounts Act (Act No. 3/2006)”, tabled by Rozaina Adam, MP, for Thulusdhoo, was in progress when today’s Sitting was adjourned.
Today’s Sitting of the Majlis was interrupted by loss of quorum on 7 occasions. As quorum was not met in the afternoon session, the Presiding Officer Velidhoo MP Ali Mohamed adjourned today’s Sitting as per Article 37 (b) of the Standing Orders. Only 19 MP’s were present at the time, while Article 37 (a) of the Standing Orders stated the quorum as 25% of the total composition of the Majlis.
