People  wants new faces – Shiyam


Meedhoo constituency member at the parliament Ahmed Shiyam has said people of the country wants new  faces . He said he believes that looking at the past, people doesn’t want to look at the same faces in politics. Speaking at the parliament, Shiyam said people doesn’t want leaders who are damaging the economy and who are pressuring on financial issues. He also said people doesn’t accept leaders who are making false promises and doesn’t want to get loss because of the projects that is being conducted in the country.

Shiyam said the organizations which have given aid to the country now is now  refusing to give aid again because of the way the governments have handled in developing the country’s economy. He also said the people who invested in this country is now reluctant to invest in the country because of the  political rivalry in the country.

Shiyam said foreign organizations now view Maldives in a different way and the bad effects of this is now seen in the country’s economy.

He said he met the Country Manager of World Bank recently and he told that World Bank cannot give any finance or investment to Maldives because of the political crisis in Maldives. He said because of political parties involvement in bringing chaos to the country, people are very disappointed. So, he called upon the 77 members of the parliament to give priority to the country and not political issues.

Speaking to bring reforms to  local governing  council bill , he said he supports that mosques, cemeteries should to be under the supervision of the Islamic Ministry. He said, there are people who are educated and who are aware on issues like this and with this we have to make people aware on such issues.
