Protest held in Dhandhoo against Nasheed for defying court
A group of people from the people of Ga. Dhandhoo has protested against former President Nasheed for defying court.
A member of the Dhandhoo council informed Miadhu Daily that Nasheed who is in a campaign tour to the southern islands faced criticism from a group of people when he visited the island.
He said that the protestors accused Nasheed of being a criminal who fled court trial after challenging and defying the rulings of the courts of law. They protested that such a person should never get the consent of the people.
The council member also said that the protestors claimed that Nasheed should be ashamed of making campaigns and making promises for the people after challenging the constitution and violating the law by defying the court when he was summoned to a court hearing.
The protestors also said that the people of the southern islands will not accept Nasheed to hold his unlawful activities in the islands.
Meanwhile, Nasheed did not appear for a court hearing on Monday to face charges that he illegally ordered the arrest of a judge, a move that led to his ouster early this year.
Nasheed also openly defied the court’s order by leaving the capital to engage in his election campaign.
