Majlis works are now irrational- Shameem

Minister of State for Tourism Ministry, Ahmed Shameem has said that the works of the Peoples’ Majlis are now irrational and is in need of a national effort to reform the Majlis.

Shameem made this remark speaking at the press conference held yesterday at Traders Hotel by “Reclaim Maldivian Airport back to Maldivians” movement of the National Alliance.

Shameem said that there are many matters that should be reformed and developed and Majlis reform is among the top concerns.

“Some members of the Majlis are causing undue influence on some government officials. When they should be in the Majlis they are busy in the different Ministries to achieve their own interests. And they go and threaten to submit vote of no-confidence if a ministry does not fulfill their need,” he said.

Shameem said that the issue of Nexbis is a matter that should be resolved in the national level. He said that the National Alliance will protest against the Nexbis Border Control System project once the airport issue is settled.
