Presentation of Projected State Budget for 2013 rescheduled on Majlis agenda to 27th Nov 2012

The Speaker of the People’s Majlis has rescheduled the presentation of the 2013 Projected State Budget to the Majlis Sitting of 27 November 2012.

The Speaker had notified the Minister of Finance and Treasury earlier that the presentation would be on the 26^th. It was rescheduled following a reply from the Ministry informing that a large percentage of the work was unfinished, and that completion on the 26^th was challenging.

The Economic Affairs Committee of the Peoples’ Majlis has unanimously passed the proposed amendments to the Finance Act. The amendment was passed at the 37^th meeting of the Economic Affairs Committee held yesterday.

The committee then decided to begin with work on a “Bill on small and middle income businesses”

Members who attended the meeting were the Chair Moosa Zameer, MP, Kin’bidhoo;   Mohamed Gasam, MP, Thinadhoo; Ibrahim Rasheed, MP, Maafannu-South; Yousuf Abdul Gafoor, MP, Gan; Ali Azim, Henveiru-Central and Hamdhoon Abdulla Hameed, MP, In’guraidhoo.

Gasim Ibrahim, MP, Maamigili; Ali Saleem, MP, Funadhoo; Eva Abdulla, MP, Galolhu-North Mohamed Aslam, MP, Hithadhoo-North and Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, MP, Meedhoo, did not attend.
