Abbas Adil Riza resigns from JP
Council member of Jumhooree Party (JP) and Press Secretary of the President’s Office, Abbas Adil Riza has resigned from Jumhooree Party yesterday.
Abbas said that he has submitted his resignation letter to the office of the Jumhooree Party. He said that he did not resign because he has issues with the party. He said that he resigned because he found it difficult to work with MP Abdullah Jabir, the Deputy Leader of the party.
Abbas said that the deputy leader is much more important for the party than him and he decided to resign because he cannot remain in the party and support the politics of Jabir.
Abbas accused Jabir for working in line with the ideology of opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). “There is nothing that can be done within the party by supporting such a person,” he said.
Abbas condemned the Peoples’ Majlis members of Jumhooree Party for voting in favour of the on taking secret votes in no confidence motions against the President and Members of the Cabinet in the sitting of the Majlis yesterday. He said that he will not accept to support MDP and follow them in making such decisions.
Abbas said that he will continue his participating in political activities despite his resignation from the Jumhooree Party.
