City Council calls to hold protests regarding govt flat grants

Male’ City Council has called to hold protests against the government if the government does not consider bringing changes to the list of recipients of Hulhumale’ flat grant.

Male’ City Council made this call raising concern regarding the government’s announcement of the B-category list last Wednesday

In an interview to VTV, Male’ City Council member Mohamed Hameed said that the there are many inconsistencies in the list announced by the government. He said that these issues are the result of the government failing to consult with the City Council before nominating the recipients.

Hameed said that the government assigned the task to Housing Ministry and the Ministry failed to confer with the city council before compiling the list.

Hameed added that the city council is ready to hold discussions regarding the matter. He said that the matter will be filed at the courts of law if the government rejects to hold discussions with the city council. He called the people whose rights have been violated in this issue to hold protests in front of Male’ City Council, Housing Ministry and Hilaaleege.
