PPM questions the role of the AG in GMR issue
Council member of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), famous lawyer Mohamed Waheed has questioned the role of the Attorney General of the state in resolving the issue of GMR.
PPM Council member Waheed raised concern over the role of the Attorney General in resolving the GMR issue during an interview to VTV. He said that the government should accept that every minute that passes without taking appropriate action against GMR will cause huge damages to the nation.
Waheed said that the government should take action against the GMR expediently and if the government keeps on procrastinating the issue than doubts are raised regarding the sincerity of the government.
Waheed said that there is no reason for the government to hesitate to take action against GMR. He said that the government should take immediate action against GMR with the same zeal and courage when the government recently took immediate action against the Transport Minister for implementing a matter decided by the Economic Committee of the Peoples’ Majlis.
Meanwhile, Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) Council member Ibrahim Didi (KD) said that it will be a difficult task for the government to take action against the GMR. However, he also said that the government is obliged to take the necessary action regardless of how difficult it will be to take such action.
