All my attention is focused on the works of Judiciary- CJ
All my attention is focused on the works of the judiciary, says Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz. The Chief Justice made this remark in reply to a question raised by Miadhu Daily at the press conference held after the ceremony held yesterday to officially open the Drug Court, established under the Act number 17/2011 (Drug Act).
I am a person with many responsibilities. Therefore all my focus is targeted on my responsibilities, the Chief Justice Faiz said.
Faiz said that he gives attention to other state institutions only in matters related to his field of work. He reiterated that no institute other than the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) can hold the judges accountable.
He stated that the Judicial Service Commission had sole authority to make judges accountable for their actions. He said that the JSC Act stipulates that the commission should investigate any complaints against judges and should issue an investigatory report and submit it to the respective committee of the Majlis.
I believe that the Judges Act was passed as such to make the judges free from all political influences, he said.
Article 141 (c) of the Constitution which states that No officials performing public functions, or any other persons, shall interfere with and influence the functions of the courts.. Article 9 of the Bill on Judges as legal foundation for its arguments against judicial interference by the Majlis.
