Four men apprehended with illegal narcotics

Shaviyani Atoll Police Station has apprehended four people with suspected illegal narcotics.

The three suspects were said to be of ages between 18 to 41 and were taken into custody after a special operation was undertaken for the arrest of these suspects when Police Intelligence received information on the illegal substance being smuggled into the island. While three were arrested in Shaviyani Milandhoo the other was arrested in Funadhoo.

The police confiscated the suspected narcotics at the presence of the three people from Milandhoo. According to Police, bullet size three rubber packets with suspected illegal narcotics and 3 rolls of packets were seized.

The 41 year old man who was arrested from Funadhoo was arrested under a court warrant. The police seized suspected narcotics from his room.

Miadhu News was informed that the 41 year old arrested in relation to this case is Shaviyani Atoll Council’s MDP member Seaside Firaq Ibrahim. According to sources he has been trafficking drugs in the region for a long time.

Shaviyani Atoll Police station is now investigating the case.
