President extends congratulations to CHSE, top centre in A’ Level exams


President Dr Mohamed Waheed has extended congratulations and expressed his gratitude to the Principal and teachers of Centre for Higher Secondary Education, from where the most students scored national top 10 and world top 10 ranks.

The President made this remark while speaking at the Top Achievers Awards 2012 held at Dharubaaruge yesterday evening.

In his speech, the President said that the students present at the function were the most intelligent, the most capable, and the most talented of the children of our nation.

Noting that in the yesterday evening’s ceremony we witnessed the result of the hard work done by the students and their parents for the past 18 years, the President extended congratulations and warm wishes to all the students who won the national top 10 positions in the higher secondary examinations, and their proud parents and guardians.

In his the President said that forcing our children to pursue a particular career field would never be wise. Speaking in this regard, he shared some of his own experiences and encouraged all the students to continue to work for their dreams.

The President said that it was evident that the children were ready to win the highest ranks in the examinations if quality education was provided.

At the function held yesterday evening, President Dr Mohamed Waheed awarded prizes and the Presidential scholarship to the 23 students who won 1st place in the national top 10.
