March held to commemorate Victory Day

A march has been held by MNDF on 3rd of November to commemorate Victory Day this year.A

The march was preceded by the morning prayers held at Kalhuthukkala Koshi parade ground. A large number of soldiers participated in the morning prayers which was followed by a special prayer ‘Dhua’ for the Victory Day. Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam addressed the soldiers and spoke about the significance of the day.

CDF said that Victory Day is in remembrance of the day brave soldiers confronted the enemy and laid their lives to become martyrs, following the oath we have taken to protect this nation, and after 24 years MNDF soldiers remain with the same courage and commitment to protect this nation and its citizens and to keep fighting till the last drop of blood.

CDF also said that we should always strive to perform our duties concerning the protection of this nation wholeheartedly, and to respect the oath we have taken and to be sincere, loyal, truthful to the nation. CDF also spoke about the commitment to the nation and said that the most valuable thing to a person is their life, yet MNDF soldiers are here to lay their valuable lives for our religion, our nation and its citizens.

CDF also said that we should take these moments to remember that all such threats to this nation has had groups of Maldivian citizens  involved. This is an irrefutable fact to be found in history. Even today there are persons among us who put their greed for power and personal gain ahead and would not be anguished by the destruction of this nation or loss of  independence to foreign powers. CDF also counseled the soldiers not to fall victim to the poisonous thoughts of people far and near who attempt to infiltrate our thinking. CDF also reminded the soldiers that MNDF is the last and the strongest line of defence of this nation and disorder in our ranks could very easily lead to the loss of sovereignty.

The ceremony also saw the launching of the annual MNDF Magazine “Addana”, the magazine was launched by Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam.
