Fire Training School will provide enough opportunities to train fire fighters on our own: Defence Minister
Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim has said that hopefully, the era of depending for an opportunity from other countries to train our fire fighters will soon be gone to the history and the Fire Training School will provide enough opportunities to train fire fighters on our own.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Fire Training School, he further said that it is a hope that the Training School inaugurated yesterday will be open to the foreign countries in the future.
Minister Nazim also highlighted that the aim is to conduct the courses at the school up to the expected level of the national qualification requirement and to upgrade the school to the same level that of other international training schools.
Moreover, he said that it is a good sign to reach the expected level as MNDF contain enough number of instructors trained plus number of syllabuses and modules formulated are available at present.
The minister stressed on the importance of giving a special attention to the service of fire fighting, satisfying urgent requirement of various equipments and upgrade its human resources and he assured that the ministry will give notable priority to these issues. Additionally, he said that the Fire Training School opened today, will be a source to instill knowledge, skills and discipline in fire fighters in order to fulfill the obligatory task given to the MNDF personnel by the constitution.
The Fire Training School was declared open by the Defence Minister Hon. Mohamed Nazim and the Training School flag was hoisted by the Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam. Furthermore, mementos were distributed to a company and five personnel to value their contribution in assisting the fire fighting service of MNDF. Those who received mementos are Maldives Water and Sewerage Company, Colonel (Retired) Shaukath Ibrahim, Brigadier General (Retired) Ahmed Naeem Mohamed, Major (Retired) Ahmed Wafir, Captain (Retired) Ali Riyaz and Lieutenant (Retired) Ali Akram. The mementos were given away by the Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam. Certificates were also awarded by the Chief of Defence Force to 38 personnel to value their assistance in bringing up the Fire Training School.
The participants of the ceremony toured at the school and witnessed a BA Simulator and an OIFF demonstration presented by the FRS fire fighters.
