CMAG seems concerned about the interests of a particular
individual-
Minister of State for
Foreign Affairs, Dhunya has said that the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group
(CMAG) seems to be more concerned about the interests of a particular individual
apparently from their statement calling for early election.
In a press conference held
yesterday, Dhunya said that although the statement has some good points, CMAG
showed more concern on finalizing a date for the election then being concerned
on establishing a peaceful environment, amending the constitution to set up an
election.
“The government is ready to
hold early election. However, there are issues to be resolved through the
all-party talks. The Majlis has a major role in making way for an election. This
is because an election can only be held after amending the constitution,” she
said.
Dhunya noted that if the
constitution is referred to, then there will be no room for doubts regarding the
legitimacy of the current government.
Dhunya however, said that
the government welcomes the statement of CMAG despite their apparent concern
over the interest of one individual.
The state minister further
said that without reaching an agreement through the talks, the nation could face
a “civil war which may escalate and a nation like ours going for a civil war
means a lot to the infrastructure and economy of the country”.
