CNI report will prove that the present govt is legitimate- Dr.Hassan Saeed

President Dr. Mohamed Waheed’s Advisor and President of the Dhivehi Qaumee Party (DQP), Dr. Hassan Saeed has said that the report that will be issued by the Commission of National Inquiry after the commission concludes their investigation of the events that lead to the power transfer will prove that the power was transferred within the bounds of the constitution and that the present government is legitimate.

Dr. Hassan Saeed said that the former President Mohamed Nasheed himself is fully aware that the power was transferred legally and he does not want to acknowledge it because of his arrogance and his inclination to lying and deception.

“Nasheed had to resign because of him challenging the constitution on a number of times during his rule. Nasheed will be fully aware of this fact,” he said.

Dr. Hassan Saeed said that the constitution is very clear on the date and condition of the Presidential Election. He said that Nasheed knows that an election cannot be held before the date mentioned in the constitution.

Dr. Hassan Saeed criticized Nasheed for his failure to fulfill his promise to hold mid-term elections during his presidency. He said that as before Nasheed is speaking of an early election to deceive the people.

Dr. Hassan Saeed said that Nasheed is now claiming that his party, the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will not form any coalition with another party because there is not a single political party in the Maldives which will ever form a coalition with the MDP.
