Thasmeen rebuts the claim of Riyaz Rasheed
Leader of the Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) Ahmed Thasmeen Ali has rebutted the claims made against him that DRP has joined the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) by the Deputy Leader of the Dhivehi Gaumee Party (DQP) Vilifushi MP Riyaz Rasheed.
Speaking at a DRP rally held last Saturday night at Lhaviyani Naifaru, DRP leader Thasmeen said that accusations made against him and DRP by the Vilufushi MP are totally baseless.
Thasmeen noted that Riyaz himself voted in favour of the opposition MDP regarding the issue of the vote of no-confidence taken against Speaker of the Peoples’ Majlis Abdullah Shahid. He added that DRP did not make blatant accusations regarding this issue and therefore it is unacceptable and very irresponsible of Riyaz to make false claims against DRP.
Thasmeen said that it is absurd for Riyaz to make such a claim that DRP has formed a coalition with MDP when Riyaz himself voted in favour of MDP in a major issue.
He said that Riyaz is only exposing himself by trying to prove that DRP is now working in line with the MDP. He said that the events of the recent days falsify these rumours and false accusations.
