We will defeat Hardingham and Farhanaz in their campaign
against Maldives’ tourism industry- Adheeb
Minister of Tourism Ahmed Adheeb has assured that the government will defeat former President Mohamed Nasheed’s close friend David Hardingham and former High Commissioner of the Maldives in UK Farhanaz Faisal’s campaign against Maldives’ tourism industry.
Minister Adheeb said that said that the concerted campaign against tourists resorts of Maldives is the biggest challenge faced by the tourism industry of Maldives.
“We will bring them to the courts of law,” he said.
Adheeb said that those who behind these destructive activities targeted to destroy the tourism industry are now very desperate and distressed because they now realize that they cannot win over the efforts of the government to market Maldives in the international community.
Noting that there were many flaws in the tourism policies of the former President Nasheed’s administration which has resulted in many losses in the tourism industry, Adheeb said that President Dr. Mohamed Waheed gives utmost importance to implement efficient tourism policies after holding discussions with different parties related to the industry.
Meanwhile, following the transfer of power, Friends of Maldives ’group in the United Kingdom (UK) launched a campaign against Maldives’ tourism industry.
According
to the report Friends of Maldives, an organization headed by former President
Mohamed Nasheed’s close friend David Hardingham distributed leaflets calling for
the boycott of resort hotels in the Maldives claiming Maldives as an unsafe
holiday destination.
The leaflets were distributed to journalists who attended a press conference
held at the Plaza Park Hotel by Maldives’ tourism minister. The FOM’s action is
also reported in the English travel magazine ‘Travel Weekly’.
The
pamphlets were distributed by Friends of Maldives CEO Hardingham, former High
Commissioner of the Maldives in UK Farhanaz Faisal and her deputy Naushad Waheed.
The activity one amongst many of former ruling party’s strategies to force the
government to call snap polls.
