Nasheed did not make any choice except to resign from Presidency- Dr. Didi

Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s recently deposed President Dr. Ibrahim Didi has said that the former President Mohamed Nasheed did not make any choice except to resign from the Presidency of Maldives on 7 February.

In a press conference held at Nalahiya Hotel, Dr. Didi said that there are many questionable issues  in the resignation of the former President.

Dr. Didi said that he and some other cabinet Ministers adviced Nasheed not to resign during the cabinet meeting he held just before he announced his resignation. He said that Nasheed was proposed the counsel of forming a committee from the cabinet to speak to the protestors and to resolve the issue. He added that he himself volunteered for such a committee.

“However, Nasheed did not agree with any of these suggestions. He was determined to resign from his post at all costs. So there are many questionable issues regarding this issue. There are many questions that the people have the right to seek the answers to. I hope that the report of the Commission of National Inquiry will provide answers for these questions,” he said.
