Maldives is a country Warmly Welcomes All Visitors- Fuwad Gasim

Jumhooree Party Council member Fuwad Gasim has said that Maldives is a country which welcomes foreign tourists and respects the religious choice of the tourists.

Speaking to Miadhu Daily Fuwad said that Maldivian people has always been welcoming and hospitable to foreign tourists even before the establishment of tourism as an industry in the country. He said that this is witnessed in the Maldivian history.

Fuwad said that foreigners are given the right to practice their religion in the confines of their rooms. And the restriction on them to practice their religion other than Islam openly is stipulated in the law to protect the rights of the people of Maldives because Maldives is a hundred percent Muslim country.

Fuwad said that thousands of tourists visit each year to the Maldives and this year the total number of tourists that have visited the Maldives will reach 1 million. He said that no tourists every raised issues of being forbidden from practicing their religion.

“A person who is sent under a plot might have said something. This issue to threaten the Islamic unity of Maldives is an ideological attack. The truth is that no tourists have ever raised concern of being unable to practice their religion because they are given the right to practice their religion in their rooms. This shows that tourists are well pleased with the country’s hospitality,” he said.

Fuwad said that the people of Maldives do not accept the report of the UN Human Rights Commission.
