Dependency can be sustained if people are self
sufficient-Qasim
Leader of Jumhooree party Mr.Qasim Ibrahim has said that the country will sustain its independence if the people are self sufficient. Speaking to Miadhu news on the occasion of the independence day Mr.Qasim said that the country will maintain its independence if the economy is not dependent on others.
Mr.Qasim said , today we are celebrating our 47th independence day. And Maldives has a long history of its independence. He said unlike others Maldivians are truly lucky in terms of independence. He said Maldivians were not being slaves in the past. But others have experienced the notorious and crimes given by the invaders. He said most of the countries had experienced a long history of invasion for a long period. And Maldivians lost its independence actually only on two times and that too was for only 17 years and except that 17 years Maldivians are free people.
The Jumhooree party Leader said Maldives got its full independence on 26th July 1965. But today we cannot call us as fully independent people. He said actual independence does not mean that anyone can call out whatever he could and whatever he can do. He said we cannot call ourselves fully independent if we are dependent on economic issues with others. Mr.Qasim said that we are in a state that we have to be dependent on others and always have to seek help from other countries. So, he urged all the citizens of Maldives to plan ahead with whatever he or she gets and to try to manage with the economic whores which we are facing today. And he assured that if we sustain this policy Maldivians will be self dependent and self sufficient in the future. He also said his party’s priority will be to give Maldivians a prosperous life.
Concluding his interview he conveyed independence day greetings to all Maldivians specially members of Jumhooree party. And he told that he prays that all Maldivians would get a prosperous life in future.
