Peace will prevail and Maldives will regain its good image- President

President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has said that peace will prevail and Maldives will regain the country’s good image.

The President made this remark at the official reception on the occasion of the Independence Day hosted by the President and and First Lady Madam Ilham Hussain yesterday evening at the National Museum.

Among the invitees to the reception were the Vice President, Cabinet Ministers, Members of the Parliament, State Ministers, foreign dignitaries who arrived for the Independence Day functions, Executives of the Government, and heads of various independent agencies.

The President and First Lady greeted all invitees and offered Independence Day felicitations at the official reception hosted to mark the 47th Independence Day of the Maldives.

The President said that the independence, the development and progress of the Maldives is the result of the sacrifices of the Maldivian people. In this regard he expressed his gratitude to the people.

President Dr. Waheed noted that the Maldives has been a peaceful country and will remain a peaceful country. Highlighting on the democratic reform, he said that times have changed and the people have accepted a change.
